Instructors:

Matsushita Sensei
At 7 yrs., Matsushita Sensei started Kendo. He was introduced to Shin Kage Ryu (Sword) at 15. For 7 years, Matsushita Sensei was the chideshi (apprentice) at the Shin Kage Ryu Dojo. There, he trained in the weapon (sword, staff) and empty-hand arts that form a part of the Shin Kage Ryu tradition. It was during this time that he appeared in the movie Budo. He was granted a menkyo by Nakajima Sensei, the 24th Successor of the Shin Kage school. This honor grants the receiver the right to create their own branch of the style – a branch that is recognized by the main school as a descendant of its teachings.

Sensei Matsushita came to the US in 1984, and eventually established a dojo in Stroudsburg. He teaches Meishin-Muso Ryu Iaid, Meishin-Muso Ryu Taijutsu and Kendo.

Sensei Matsushita currently lives in Tokyo, Japan and travels to the US only twice a year. He makes it a point to visit our dojo every weekend while he is in PA. That is a high honor for us.

Sensei Matsushita's younger son, Ken, teaches Japanese Sword on most Saturdays at our dojo and is studying to be an engineer at Penn State. He is currently doing his internship in Connecticut.
